Clinical Medical Library Services

The goal of the Clinical Medical Library Service is to provide faculty, students, and staff of Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital with information support and assistance for clinical research and day-to-day patient care questions. Members of the Clinical Medical Library team will foster communication between the library and departments of the medical school and hospital. Services of the clinical team may include:

  • Attending department meetings such as morning report
  • Joining clinicians on rounds
  • Producing information guides on new services, collections, and research tools
  • Preparing or updating subject research guides
  • Sending information packets to new faculty
  • Serving on departmental committees 
  • Demonstrating library resources or suggesting other library services
  • Providing information therapy to patients, families, and caregivers via consumer rounds
  • Partnering with clinicians and faculty to support a culture of patient-centered care

 

The Clinical Medical Librarian Service currently provides support to the following programs and committees at WCM/NYP:

  • Burn Unit
  • Department of Medicine Morning Report
  • Department of Neurology, including the Neurology Clerkship
  • Department of Pediatrics
  • Meyer Cancer Center
  • Nurses Evidence Based Practice & Research Committee
  • Nurses Practice Council
  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
